Frognel Hall Hotel Diary

Christmas and New Year 2011:

We enjoyed a busy festive season, when we were able to welcome familiar as well as new faces, guests, friends and family.

November 2011:

Yes I know it's nearly Christmas and I should be faster about updating the website, but maybe some scary halloween photos will be an antidote to the canned Christmas carols and glitz in all the shops.  The Bookworms from Newport came to visit us for a Halloween celebration at the end of October.  There was a wonderful array of witches, wizards, members of the Addams family, and other horrors, not mention our family of pumpkins in the bar!

Autumn 2011:

It's murder mystery time again! This season's plot definitely exercises the little grey cells but also includes some hilarious horse-play to ensure that you are awake after one of our delicious dinners! A lovely group from Bovington in Dorset enjoyed a weekend with us in October, and, as you can see, once the acotrs had revealed all there was a winning team!

Summer 2011':

We have enjoyed visits from bowls groups and ramblers, including some who are on their second or third visits.  It is always a pleasure for us to see familiar faces, and we have met some lovely people.

We have made some progress with the garden and it is looking quite colourful.  We have even managed to grow a few vegetables, although we have yet to restore the pond.

Guests have enjoyed playing croquet on the lawn, and  on one memorable evening we witnessed a beetle drive for the first time.  It was great fun for everybody and we are intending to include beetle drives to our repertoire of indoor entertainment.   We are also considering obtaining an indoor quoits set to add to our old-fashioned pub games collection.   Nobody need feel bored when staying at Frognel Hall!

June 2011:

The month began with Kathy and Simon's wedding on Saturday 4th.  They opted f

or a relaxed and informal celebration, with an afternoon barbeque and evening buffet.  External decorators made a good job of beautifying our rooms,  the bride and groom were covered in smiles throughout, as can be seen from the photos below, and the weather was kind to us so that guests could relax outside late into the evening and make the most of the garden.

May 2011:

We were pleased to welcome for the first time a small  but lovely group from Vintage Tours, based on the Isle of Wight, who arrived in a 1959 27 seater Bedford bus.   It was lovely to see the bus parked in our drive, and it really felt as if we had moved back to an earlier era.

April 2011:

Oh dear, nearly half a year gone by without an addition to the diary page.  We enjoyed a busy Christmas and New Year, and spent January doing some decorating and resting.  During February and March we have held some very enjoyable Murder Mystery weekends.  Michelmersh Silver Band came to stay with us for the regional championship, and came fourth in their section, an excellent result, well-deserved, to judge from the sound of their rehearsals!

November 2010:

We have finally regained possession of our MGB GT  automatic (1972), after  several months' restoration.  We are looking forward to taking her out for drives, and showing her off to some of our guests who also love Classic Cars.
